Have been thinking about getting an HTC Magic (Wife has the Iphone) ......... but cant see HTC listed under available phone handsets anymore???

I know its 1200am........maybe my eyes are gone?

If it has gone.....is there a new replacement?? Hero maybe??? Dont want to be another IPhone fanboi......but might have to be now :( (short of going to trademe)

No you're not wrong it has gone.
There isn't much in the way of smartphones at all with Vodafone.
I would have thought that they would have had a Smartphone section listed in the menu.

Must all be my fault. I complained that they didn't show the extended 3g capabilities on the specifications sheet for the HTC Magic. They promised to update the page.

The HTC magic is EOL (end of line)so it is not being stocked any more.
Hopefully we will get the nexus soon... fingers crossed

How about other recent HTC Android phones? - e.g. Tattoo, Hero - Bravo maybe?

(As it seems Motoral is 'supplier non grata' a far as VF is concerned and no Samsung or LG androids have surfaced here)

Yep, indeed.
However, the thread is about the disappearence of the VF Magic and the comment was aimed at 'official' Vodafone supported Android phones available from VF or its suppliers

True......my bad

I'm holding off buying HTC to see what Vodafone NZ is going to run with, plus with Iphones next release at some stage looming......but favour an Android at this stage.

Smartphones model life appears to be 9 months at best. VFNZ only released the HTC Magic last June. Eight months later it's all over. The Nexus One is the current sweet spot, but the upcoming Samsung i8520 (Q3/4 for EU & AP) looks like an awesome phone....and includes 16GB of internal storage *and* sdcard support....*and* a pico projector!

There a lot of other excellent phone either already out or about to be released. The Mobile World Congress is almost underway (Feb 15-18 in Barcelona). We should see many new products announced for release in the months ahead. If you want the latest, you have to pay.

That said, the HTC Magic is still and excellent phone for anyone wanting an Android phone for under $500 new (TradeMe) and less if you're happy with a pre-loved phone.

Expert infotech are pretty cheap too... einfo co nz

They come with a 1 year warranty!

I just purchased the E52 from there no matter how many bugs it might have.
