Hi.. I’m really hoping that someone may be able to give me some hints on how to resolve a problem I’ve had for the last 6 weeks or so…its been driving me nuts.
On my local network I can have up to 3 computers all running XP and periodically any one of then will suddenly no longer be able to connect to the internet ( I test this by running a ping to 203.109.128.91 which I believe is the default gateway). If I do nothing it’ll come right in about 10-30mins during this time I can still connect to the other systems in my local network (192.168.1.0) and the other systems are still able to connect to the internet. I’ve found that I can clear this ‘hang’ by creating a folder share with one of the other systems on my network and then pushing some data across it. I had originally assumed the problem may have be due to a problem with my router (a WAG160N) but I since tried it with an old router (DSL-504) and I’m still having the same issue. I’ve also disconnected all systems but one from my network which is hardwired …still the same issue.
There doesn’t appear to be any particular application that triggers this, it happens whether I’m browsing in IE or Firefox and if I start a download I’m lucky if I get to 120mb before it happens.
Any help gratefully received
