iPhone home button problems

Hi,

Sometimes (perhaps 1 time out of 20) when I push the home button (when the phone is asleep, screen off) - nothing happens. The screen is still black as if I never pushed the button. A second time will almost always turn it on as normal.

It's been happening for ages and I thought perhaps it was a software bug. Alas, it has never been addressed in a software update and I'm starting to think it could be a hardware fault.

iPhone 3GS 32GB purchased from the Vodafone Online Store.

Problem with taking it in to the shop is it is highly likely to not fault for them, nor the techs who would be assessing it.

For some reason I can no longer connect to the web, It was working fine one day and that stopped the next. I have gone into a vodafone shop and after trying to configure my settings they had the same problem. when trying to connect the 3G icon doesnt go red like it use to Does this mean it is a hardware problem and not software/firmware ? I have also restored all settings on my phone but still no luck. It is not a parallel import. The phone is a LG 990i

I was thinking of buying a Sony Ericsson phone, since I lost my other phone last year. I still have all the accessories for that old phone (Charger, USB Cable, Headphones and Speakers)
Is it possible if I can buy a Sony Ericsson W205 Phone, without the accessories and Sim Card, at a Vodafone Shop?

New Handset - what connects easily to a Parrot?

Hi,

My existing handset (a Sony Ericsson) is nearing the end of it's life and I'm looking at which handset to get. The Sony Ericsson has always been problematic connecting to my Parrot, whereas my Nokia has never been a problem.

Do you have any suggestions. Criteria - Bluetooth, 3G, prefer not flipopen, not too expensive, camera, durable - but doesn't need to be bombproof :-)

I'm mainly looking at Nokia's at the moment but I'm interested in recommendations. Any help you can give me would be great.

Thanks!

PUK Code, My Account problems

I'm unable to turn my phone on because someone entered my PIN in wrong 3 times and now it is asking for the PUK code.

Because I've long since lost the pack from Vodafone (this phone is a few years old) I went onto the Vodafone website and tried to log onto the Account section to find my PUK code, because I couldn't remember the password that I had used for the account I used 'Reset Password' thinking it would send a temp. pass to my email, instead it has sent it to my phone (which I cannot access because it requires me to enter the PUK code). I have no credit on my mobile (prepaid) which means I can't call Customer Service which costs $1.

So yeah, I'm unable to get my PUK code because I've lost the pack, can't remember the password to my online account so I reset the pass which sent the pass to my phone which I can't access...

Acer Liquid A1

I bought an Acer Liquid A1 android phone via TradeMe over the weekend.

These were released in the UK on December 9th. They do quad-band GSM and UMTS 900/2100. A perfect fit for Vodafone NZ.

The Liquid has an ARM7 "Snapdragon" (i8250) processor like the Nexus One and is clocked at 768MHz (more than fast enough and easier on the battery). It can be clocked up to 1GHz, but I haven't bothered so far. The ARM7 processor means it will support Adobe Flash 10.1 for Android as well as Google Earth when Android v2.1 is available from Acer. It also has the 480x800 resolution (WVGA). It's running Android v1.6 in a version released by Acer about 3 weeks ago. Acer seem to release updates / upgrades quite frequently and you install them using a PC-based update program.

The only drawback to the Liquid so far is the internal app storage is only 150MB (edit: actually 190MB - bare). That's 130MB less than an HTC Magic. A custom ROM with apps2sd should sort that out when I get around to it. So far, I've loaded all my favourite apps and it's only about half full with about 73MB remaining. Given most Android apps are under 1MB in size, I still have a way to go before I need to worry. Plus many apps already store much of their data on the sdcard (eg: FeedR rss feed reader, Dolphin Browser, Text to Voice speech synthesis, Twidroid...and others). I tend to have a lot of 'nice to have' apps I rarely use.....but useful when you need them. It makes up for the storage by having 256MB of RAM with about 60MB more than HTC Magic for actually running programs so I can now run a LOT more apps at the same time and barely notice.

The phone looks nice enough. It's a bit square-ish and the glossy plastic case doesn't have as nice a feel as the HTC Magic. On the upside, the glass screen seems to resist fingerprints....or maybe my pocket keeps it well polished.

If you're looking for an Android phone while Vodafone is busy getting its new Android products lined up, then this is a worthy phone...and cheaper than a Nexus One. In case anyone is wondering, no...I am not selling them. I'm just a user and this isn't spam. I'm sharing what I've been discovering....and I've discovered this phone works great with Vodafone.
